Housing Rehabilitation

The Denver Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) provides very low interest loans for qualifying low and moderate income Denver homeowners to make emergency repairs or needed improvements to their home. The funding source for this activity is the City and County of Denver, Office of Economic Development.

DURA has managed this program for over 30 years and to date more than 15,000 Denver homeowners have benefitted from these loans to improve the safety and living conditions of their homes.

DURA offers "one-stop shopping" for qualified Denver residents who need financial help renovating their homes or making emergency repairs. DURA provides assistance from start to finish:

  • Helping clients complete loan applications
  • Obtaining required documentation
  • Underwriting loans
  • Inspecting homes
  • Developing work plans
  • Providing experienced and licensed contractor referrals
  • Scheduling and conducting loan closings
  • Making sure work gets done correctly and on schedule

dura assistance programs

DURA provides assistance through two distinct housing programs for qualified Denver residents - Single-Family Rehabilitation (SFR) Program and the Emergency Home Repair (EHR) Program. The SFR Program provides low or no-interest loans for essential home repairs such as roofing, heating, electrical, plumbing, insulation, windows, floor coverings, and kitchen cabinets; while the EHR Program provides similar assistance for emergency situations such as a leaking roof, hazardous furnace or sewer system failure that need immediate attention.
