Demolition of the former Alameda Square shopping center at Alameda and Zuni is well underway. Contractors for Brighton Corporation have abated and demolished the structures where the new Lowes Home Improvement Store will begin construction later this year. Site work includes substantial earthwork, remediation of former landfill materials, and infrastructure improvements necessary to redevelop the formerly blighted site.
As part of the demolition, Brighton has undertaken on-site recycling of all concrete and asphalt materials from the demolition to be reused within the site – cutting down on costs, truck hauling, and landfill space.
The fully renovated center is expected to open in spring 2010.
