The Denver Urban Renewal Authority’s (DURA) Board of Commissioners today announced Stephanie O’Malley as its newest member. She was appointed by Denver Mayor Guillermo (Bill) Vidal. As a commissioner, O’Malley will support DURA’s role in facilitating urban revitalization.
“Stephanie O’Malley is a highly intelligent and proven leader who clearly is dedicated to the future of Denver and its residents. Her experience working in public policy, as well as her thoughtful and strategic approach to complex situations, will be a valuable asset in advancing the DURA mission,” said Tracy Huggins, executive director of DURA.
As Denver’s Clerk and Recorder, O’Malley oversees Denver’s election, public trustee and recording functions. Under her leadership, backlogs in the Clerk and Recorder’s Office were eliminated, the organization underwent a major restructuring and the City of Denver conducted 12 successful elections.
“It’s a distinguished honor to be a member of the DURA Board of Commissioners, and I look forward to working with the Commissioners to promote economic growth and opportunity throughout the City and enhance the quality of life for Denver residents,” said O’Malley.
O’Malley is a licensed attorney in the State of Colorado and received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Denver College of Law. She served as a founding board member of the Denver School of Science and Technology and is a former board member of Neighborhood Economic Development Cooperation, Nursing Inc. She is a Trustee for Zion Baptist Church. Prior to serving as the City’s Clerk and Recorder, O’Malley was appointed by then-Mayor John Hickenlooper as director of the City of Denver’s Department of Excise and Licenses.
